“Don’t be afraid of failing, give it a try first!!”

The first time you received 1st place on a music show: “It had been a year since we debuted, it felt as though we were slowly but surely rising up, it was exhilarating. And to win 1st place right in front of CARATs who have always given love to us made it even more special, it was like something we have poured all our hearts in doing had been acknowledged. That’s why I felt more joy rather than tears.”

Advice for a person challenging something for the first time: “When we first debuted, I was bad at singing in front of people by myself. I was afraid of what would happen if I made a mistake, but then I saw a Chinese TV show where a singer said, ‘A person who has never failed before does not have the right to say they’ve succeeded.’ So then I thought, ‘Even if I do fail, I can show my better side next time.’ I practiced with all my might and gained more confidence. So to everyone as well, don’t be afraid of failing, give it a try first!!”

Your world tour started 2019 August in Seoul, what are some changes that have occurred compared to your first world tour? “When we go to places we’ve been to before, I’m reminded of the memories and scenery we experienced there and feel a sense of nostalgia. And for the sake of so many CARATs who’ve come to give us support, we’ll be going to many more places that we haven’t been to yet, and the feeling of wanting to show even more diverse stages has grown stronger.”

The first time you were moved by your teamwork: “During my birthday. The members prepare a cake, I get to go eat Chinese food with everyone, things like that make me very happy. In addition, there are members who are now able to eat Chinese food when they couldn’t before; members who are learning Chinese; I am thankful to the members who are trying to understand Chinese culture more.”

You’re very good at taking selcas, what is the turning point for that and what is your trick? “When I was attending school in China, I had a friend who was very good at taking selcas, and I wanted to become good too, so I took a lot of pictures and eventually became good. Lighting is important when it comes to selcas. Lighting and colors can change a lot, so when I find a spot where I can take a beautiful selca, I tend to take a lot of them. The pictures I took on my bed in the old dorm came out well, so I took a lot during that time. (lol)”

You love spicy food, but what was the first dish that made you think it was really spicy? “When I was a kid, I ate cold appetizers from my mother’s hometown, it was spicy and I was honestly shocked. Even though it was spicy, it was extremely delicious. I can now eat them normally now.”
